Why we breed at all

Sunset Shore Kennels sits just outside Goderich, close enough to hear the lake on a windy day. We keep two adults and plan one litter a year, sometimes none.

Enzo is a Golden Retriever. Ivy is a chocolate Lab. We breed them for a sound family dog: a readable face, and a temperament that settles on a couch without losing the will to retrieve a ball.

We started after years of living with dogs that came from programs we trusted, and a few that did not. The difference was never the website. It was the socialization, and whether the breeder still answered the phone two years later.
